Marty Kurth (Metadata Services, CTS) and Nancy McGovern (Assistant Director, Research Department and Digital Preservation Officer, IRIS) lead an open discussion of the set of preservation metadata elements that has been proposed for implementation at CUL. The list of proposed elements is the result of an April meeting of CUL preservation metadata stakeholders and experts. Please consult this site <http://www.library.cornell.edu/iris/dpo/metadata.html> for a list of the proposed preservation metadata elements as well as background information on last April's preservation metadata meeting. You will likely want to follow the "Voting summary" link for the recommendations made at the April meeting. The "Scope notes on tabled elements 5 and 14" link leads to an interpretation of two elements about which the April group asked for more information. The full OCLC/RLG document that the April group considered can be found at <http://www.oclc.org/research/pmwg/pm_framework.pdf>, but, for a quick overview, you may want to look at Nancy McGovern's summaries of the OCLC/RLG metadata elements by following the "Summary of Preservation Description Information" and "Summary of Content Information" links.
