Description

Peter Hirtle will discuss the importance of tracking rights metadata for digital collections.

Joy Paulson will give a demonstration of the tool that is being used to track copyright information for the CHLA and HEARTH collections.

Elaine Westbrook will discuss how the Open Language Archives Community (OLAC) is managing rights metadata.

The final part of the session will be an update on the work of the U.S. Copyright Office in relation to orphan works, with a special look at the exemptions for libraries and archives, as provided by Section 108 of the U.S. Copyright Act.
